Dancers visiting the area are equally welcome to join us. Contact: Club Secretary - Mrs June Eames on 01926 427846 - or just turn up. Our current membership is in the order of 90 members with an age range of 21 to 90 plus. BANDS & CALLERS
There is live music on the first and third Thursdays in the month. On the first Thursday the music is played by Bob Shakespeare on Accordion backed up by other club musicians whilst on the third Thursday we have music from "Runaway Mop", Recorder, Fiddle, Keyboard & Guitar. On the remaining Thursdays we use recorded music.
We have eight regular callers who work on a rota with occasional Guest callers (usually where there is a fifth Thursday in the month) and also, occasionally, an "All Comers Night" where anyone in the club can have a go at calling a dance or two! BARN DANCE & DISPLAYS
Some of our callers and musicians are available for BARN DANCES whether they are for fund raising, family birthdays, Wedding Parties etc. These can be to live or recorded music depending on your funding. Again you can contact our Club Secretary for help.
A Dance Display Team, "Variations", is available for Charity and Social Functions, they meet twice monthly for practices. These displays can be combined with spectator participation sessions if desired. Contact Pete Eames 01926 427846 (E-mail: pete.eames@ntlworld.com) or Ian Meddoms on 01926 492945 OTHER ACTIVITIES In addition to our Thursday evening dance night we have a PLAYERS' CLUB which meets every third Wednesday at Cubbington Methodist Church at 8:00 pm for those who are interested in playing for dancing, or just like to play folk dance music in a group. Contact: Mrs June Eames (see above) We have also run, in the recent past groups for Long Sword Dance and Rapper Sword Dance. If there was sufficient interest one or other of these could be recommenced! Long Sword Dance can be a good childrens display activity so if you want to try something different contact Pete Eames.
