It is an invaluable resource for developing teamwork and co-operation in young people. Special Needs groups can also use the boat.
Centenary is also a Royal Yatching Association Training Centre offering RYA Inland Waterway Helmsmen training courses and certificates to individuals. This meets the needs of Centenary hirers and is also invaluable to individual boat owners or potential owners who wish to aquire boating skills for inland waterways.

Originally presented to the young people of South Warwickshire in 1984 by Marks and Spencer in their centenary year, it is run by a charitable trust. Centenary can accommodate up to 12 people and is normally based on the Stratford Canal, convenient for exploring several midland canals. Leaders need to have undertaken training on the boat, which covers handling and other aspects of safety regarding young people. Centenary is operated by the Stratford upon Avon Narrowboat Trust registered charity number 515828. Photos throughout this site have been provided by J Smith, D Miller, L Hancox, R Corkett, L Bradley and D Bradley.
