Centenary Youth Canal Narrowboat

Home page

Welcome to this web site. There are several pages which may be visited by clicking topics on the site map at the foot of each page.

Centenary is a 12 berth Narrowboat for youth organizations to hire at affordable rates for weekends or longer periods. It is an invaluable resource for developing teamwork and co-operation in young people. Special Needs groups can also use the boat.

Chance to explore different canals
During 2009 Centenary will be operated from Streethay Wharf at Lichfield giving access to the Coventry Canal, the Trent and Mersey Canal and the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.
 (see "Where to go" page)
This opportunity is only available during next season while the trust negotiates a new permanent mooring on the Stratford Canal. The previous mooring at Wootton Wawen is no longer available due to an increase in the number of commercial hire boats.

Originally presented to the young people of South Warwickshire in 1984 by Marks and Spencer in their centenary year, it is run by a charitable trust. Centenary can accommodate up to 12 people and is normally based on the Stratford Canal, convenient for exploring several midland canals.  Leaders need to have undertaken training on the boat, which covers handling and other aspects of safety regarding young people.

Centenary is operated by the Stratford upon Avon Narrowboat Trust registered charity number 515828.
