Comments on the Day

The Wellesbourne Action Day proved very successful. The theme was WISC up Wellesbourne (Wellesbourne Inclusive and Safer Communities). The main intention was to get local people involved in and be responsible for their own community. Although the weather was terrible all events carried on indoors. There were many organisations involved from the County and Voluntary Sectors. It was very useful for networking and several groups had not heard of VLOs. One particular group operating at Studley was a Credit Union which would be great for Wellesbourne.  The County Groups include Library Service, Community Education, Connexions, Police,  NHS, Warwickshire Childrens Information Service. There were other local groups involved such as WI, Karate, Neighbourhood Watch, Wellesbourne in Bloom etc.

I think all groups interacted well and learnt a lot about each other. There was a good attendance by local , district and county councillors. Most amazing was a comment from our local parish / district councillor, David Close, "I did not know anything about the VLO scheme !" He does know now and apparently District County are looking at ways of better dissemination of information and he agreed that the VLO route would be ideal. I gave him Karens name as a contact." "Just to say thanks for the invite to the above last Saturday.  I
> thought it was well organized and was good fun.  I recruited two adult
> learners, which was very positive and unexpected.  Events are always
> good for networking but rarely produce learners signing up there and
> then - so thank you.
>
>" I think the logo  for WAG designed by a group of kids, was truly amazing."
>
>" May see you at another event some day !"
"The chance to hear and see different groups and past times.  It is also great to get the community together!"

"I had never heard of WAG until today.  I think that such a co-odinated group demonstrates the pride people have for their community"

" I realised that there are a lot of people who care about the village.  My family and i have only been here 4 years but are already proud."
